Cootehill Youthreach was opened in May 2000. It was decided
to open a centre in Cootehill because there were a large number
of trainees from the area attending Cavan Youthreach by bus
every day. Our funding comes from Cavan VEC, the NDP and the
European Social Fund.
Our centre is situated in the centre of the town which means it
is accessible to all and easy to find! We operate 5 days-a-week
from 9am until 4.30pm. We currently have 20 trainees in our centre,
mostly from the Cootehill area. As well as modules such as Mathematics
and Literacy, we also have introduced some new and exciting modules,
such as Sport Horseriding, Swimming, Water Safety and Glass Craft.
We also provide work experience for our trainees so they can work
in different environments and decide what career path appeals to
them. Since we opened our centre we have had many trainees come
through our door and the number of trainees whom we have assisted
in getting the required points to go to college increases each year,
we look forward to many years of continued success.
