Adult Education & Night Courses

School may be a distant memory, but lately you've been hankering to enrich your life by cultivating a pleasurable new skill like learning a little French, taking up Art or perhaps learning more about computers. Or maybe you feel like now is the time to develop new vocational skills. Perhaps you're already considering enrolling in an adult education class. If you do, then you’d be joining more than 50 per cent of adults across the country participating in adult education, most on a part-time basis.

Co. Cavan VEC offers a broad range of part-time evening courses. Some are designed to provide you with an opportunity for continuous professional development, while enrolments on other courses are motivated more by personal interest and a desire for self-development.

A number of short courses, approx. 8 - 10 weeks in duration, are held in centres throughout the county. These courses extend across a wide range of areas, including Introduction to Computers, Reflexology, Make-up and Beauty Care, Irish for beginners, Guitar, Spanish, French, Polish, Salsa Dancing, Horticulture, Quilt Making, Better Interview Skills, Accounts for Small Businesses, Furniture Making, plus many more. Evening courses take place typically one evening per week and are usually 2 to 3 hours in duration each evening. The cost of each course is set at a level to ensure accessible education of the highest quality for all. Courses run subject to demand.

Co Cavan VEC Adult Education Service is committed to meeting the needs of the county and is constantly evolving to reflect changes in the community, industry and education. These needs are changing all the time and we are keen to develop our range of courses to maintain their relevance and value. Courses are chosen to meet the specific requirements and training needs of individuals and groups and we welcome suggestions of how best to meet the demands of local areas.

If you’re ready to develop a new skill or unearth a hidden talent, then take that next step and enrol for your chosen course at one of our information and enrolment evenings, which are taking place throughout the county over the next two weeks.

Advice on courses may be obtained at the information evening. Applications are accepted prior to the information & enrolment evening through the Adult Education Office at 12 Church View Square, Cavan.
